Nursery
Our beautiful, purpose built Nursery classrooms are where the magic of Pre-Prep begins! In the spacious and airy Nursery, our well qualified and experienced staff provide a happy, nurturing environment where your son or daughter feels special and secure as they begin their school life.
Our youngest children begin in Nursery 1, moving through Nursery 2 to our Pre-School room, Nursery 3, for their final year in Nursery. The classrooms are spaces for enjoyment, wonder and investigation, with role play areas which are ever evolving, cosy spaces for cuddling up with a book and areas for budding artists to paint, construct and explore different media. Each classroom opens directly onto a large covered area which allows for learning outside, whatever the weather! Staff take care to plan carefully selected resources and activities which will capture children’s imagination, build on their interests and enhance their learning. Our ‘Open Door’ approach means that parents can always have a chat with a member of staff at drop off or pick up time.
The Nursery classrooms are part of the Pre-Prep building, allowing our youngest children to be fully integrated into the life of the Pre-Prep. The children attend our special ‘Celebration Assemblies’, perform in the school theatre at Christmas and are always included in special events such as Book Week and International Day. French, music and swimming lessons taught by specialist teachers are part of the Nursery week, as well as regular visits to ‘School in the Woods.’
Children can attend for morning sessions or full days. Arrival is flexible, between 8.15am and 8.45am. We try to be as flexible as possible about the number of sessions that you feel your child is ready to attend, subject to availability.
These first steps for children away from their families are extremely important and special; we aim to support children in their growing independence and see Nursery as the start of a very exciting learning journey.
