Art
The Department has a strong reputation for excellence and our pupils consistently win scholarships to a wide range of Senior Schools. Art and Design/Technology at Brambletye is taught by qualified specialists and practicing artists. All pupils receive a double period of Art and DT weekly and they are taught a diverse range of skills and disciplines that include drawing and painting, printmaking, and three dimensional product design. Pupils are challenged to observe and record information, interpret their own ideas and to use their imagination when making works of art.
In addition to formal lessons, the Department offers evening activities in the Autumn and Spring Terms. For the more committed art student, we offer holiday Art Courses run by the Head of Department, assisted by visiting artists and past students who are currently taking degree courses.
We hold an annual exhibition where every pupil in the school will have a piece of work on display. The Art Auction raises money for our school charity.

Head of Art and Design Technology
In Years 3, 4 and 5 I was so terrible at Art and DT and I also didn’t like it because everyone else was better than me. I could never understand why the pencil would end up smudging. When I was told I was going to be a potential Art Scholar that made me so happy and boosted my confidence a lot! At the beginning of Year 7 I started to be really passionate about Art. I think I loved Art so much because I wasn’t academic or sporty. My confidence increased in Art and that made me better about sport and in the classroom. I am now in the 1st team hockey and netball and I have got GREAT marks in my exams. I have won 2 scholarships. You have pushed me at times but you kept supporting me. Thank you so much you have really made a difference to my life.
