Information and Communication Technology
At Brambletye, as ICT is increasingly integrated into all areas of the curriculum, it is important to introduce pupils to ICT as early as possible, so that they are able to use ICT skills where appropriate to support their learning.
In our teaching with Information and Communication Technology, it is expected that all pupils will experience ICT regularly in the classroom and school in general. Elements of the National Curriculum and the Independent Schools Examination Board Curriculum have been adapted to provide a structured learning environment for pupils
Additionally, pupils are given the opportunity to experience a wide variety of ICT applications covering a range of subject areas to support their curriculum work elsewhere in the school. Basic computer skills will be acquired through the use of ICT as pupils progress through the scheme of work. Pupils are introduced to touch typing at an early age.
Aspects of school life can also provide an opportunity for pupils to demonstrate their developing ICT skills. For example, designing and producing a certificate for all participants in a sporting activity or for Christmas/Easter decorations. In such circumstances, lessons will be adapted to cover school events. This approach will ensure pupils are familiar with the range of ICT resources they may need and will allow them to demonstrate their achievements in a wider context.
