Pippa has won 1st Prize in the Years 7-8 category of the iAPS Art Competition with her deeply personal piece titled ‘What Colour Are You?’. This annual competition highlights the exceptional talent and creativity of young artists.
Pippa’s winning portrait is not just a work of art but a powerful narrative that reflects significant aspects of her life. The multi-coloured portrait, a celebration of diversity, symbolises the multicultural society we live in. The subject of the portrait is bald, a poignant detail that mirrors Pippa’s own experience of losing her hair during chemotherapy treatment for cancer when she was younger. The expression of hope on the subject’s face echoes the optimism Pippa felt during her first visit to the cancer ward—a feeling that has driven her aspiration to become a doctor, with art playing a crucial role in her journey to help others.
iAPS said this year’s competition theme, “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together,” inspired a wide range of interpretations, and Pippa’s work stood out among 120 entries spanning various mediums, including paintings, drawings, mixed media, and sculptures.
Pippa, along with other winners, received a framed print of her artwork, a commemorative certificate, and a book token to spend at her local bookshop. Congratulations to Pippa and all the participants who showcased their talent in this year’s competition!
