The exeat weekend saw the annual Charity Concerts take place, this year named “Robbie’s Recital” in aid of our school charity “robbiesrehab”.
The concert opened with an uplifting performance of “Giant” by Calvin Harris & Rag ‘n’ Bone man, setting the tone for the rest of the event. The soloist winners of the House Shout performed their pieces on the piano and harp and Wellington belted out their winning song “Believer”. The Bramble Bows played a jaunty “Russian Gopak” and the Orchestra played three pieces including “The Elephant” featuring Fiona on her bassoon. The Concert band had the audience toe-tapping with their versions of “The Gingerbread Man”, “The Show must go On” and Rocky’s theme tune “Gonna Fly Now”. Year 2, the Junior and the Chamber choirs sang sweetly covering a range of numbers from a hymn “I, the Lord of Sea and Sky” to “If you want to SIng Out” by Cat Stevens. The show culminated in the whole school singing ” Wind Beneath our Wings” while a slideshow behind them told Robbie’s story – an incredibly stunning and powerful performance.
In a busy school, where the children have so many things going on, this concert reflected the inspiration of a very talented team in the music department who are now busily preparing the children for the next musical extravaganza – the Carol Service.
