Paul Cookson's Visit

Paul Cookson's Poetry Event

We had a real live poet in the school on Thursday!

Paul Cookson, author and anthologist (and electric ukulele player) gave a number of performances and workshops to pupils in the course of the day. He talked about how to write poems, why he supports Everton football club and why he likes a fondly remembered pop group from the seventies called Slade. He gave us plenty of ideas for our writing but he also entertained us brilliantly with lots of jokes and funny stories. It was also very helpful for the teachers because the boys and girls are now going to do ‘exactly as they’re told’ (e.g. ‘pull yourself together’ and ‘get your brains into gear’…)
