Headmaster’s Welcome

It goes without saying that I’m incredibly honoured to lead this exceptional school, a school that has produced generations of engaging, interesting and successful boys and girls during its 100  year history.

There are three school rules at Brambletye – Work Hard, Play Hard and Be Kind – all three of these qualities can be found in abundance here. Of course any school should be in the business of educating its pupils and I am extremely proud of what our children and staff are able to achieve – our results are outstanding and the scholarship boards speak for themselves. Our pupils go on to all the top Senior Schools and win fistfuls of scholarships in every discipline imaginable – this year saw a record breaking 25 scholarships won including Academic, Art , Music, Sport and Drama. Academic success is of course a priority, but at Brambletye we pride ourselves on educating the whole child. We teach them how to think, not what to learn by allowing them the space and the time to enjoy being children, by creating opportunities for each and every one of them to find what makes them tick, by putting creativity at the heart of all that we do and finally, by instilling in them the qualities of character that will stand the test of time.

At the end of every school year our leavers traditionally put on a show for the staff and pupils.  It was during this year’s performance that children showed the qualities I hope any child leaving Brambletye will acquire over their time with us. We saw a great deal of humour, but humour that was in good taste, we saw compassion for one another, we saw creative skill, we saw pupils supporting one another, we saw pupils willing to celebrate each other’s success, we saw pupils unafraid to make mistakes, we saw confidence without a hint of arrogance and, above all else, we saw a group of young adults bonded together by strong friendships created through a very special shared experience – the Brambletye experience!

So, a warm welcome to our website – I very much hope that it will give you a glimpse of our impressive pupils, our stunning site, and our dedicated staff – but more importantly I hope it encourages you to come and see us all in action. My wife, Amelia and I would be delighted to welcome you to Brambletye and so would Hercules, our noisy little dachshund!
