Futurism
Exhibition runs 15th – 26th January 2010
Chequer Mead Theatre and Arts Centre
De La Warr Road, East Grinstead
Inspiration for this show came from the 'Futurism' exhibition held at The Tate Modern in early September 2009.The whole school has explored a diverse range of concepts, themes and ideas using drawing, printmaking, painting and three dimensional design processes, media and techniques. This year 18 students are sitting Art and Design/Technology Scholarships and their new body of work will be on display, which includes expressive acrylic paintings of objects they have found, researched and interpreted as Art forms. Their styles vary from Impressionism to Realism, and original ideas have been developed using dry point etching, ceramics and sculpture. There is also a small selection of GCSE and A level work produced by former pupils who have won Art scholarships in the past.
