Brambletye is proud of the wide and extensive range of extra-curricular activities that form a key aspect of school life.
The curriculum is supported by a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. These include major school productions such as Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’,he Rice-Lloyd Webber musical ‘The Likes Of Us’ and the most recent production of 'The Sound of Music', regular musical performances by our orchestra and our three choirs, our annual exhibition of the pupils’ art work and a range of educational visits to places as diverse as the Natural History Museum, Hever Castle and Lullingstone Roman Villa. Members of staff have also recently organised an expedition to Kenya and a week in a French chateau used as an education centre during which all the instructions were in French!
Charity Work: The school adopts a different charity for each academic year, either overseas or locally based. The pupils have the opportunity to vote for the charity that they would like to support. Fund-raising events are held throughout the year. These might include: Home Clothes Day, Charity Concert, Cake Stall, Fun Run, Squash Marathon and other sponsored activities.
Community Outreach: There is close liaison and partnership projects with the local Primary School. Many of the school’s sports and recreation facilities are made available to local sports groups and organisations. A programme of sports events is set up every term for local primary schools. The Senior Citizens from the nearby village are entertained each term. Pupils sing at local Nursing Homes and Retirement Homes.
Activities, Clubs and Societies: A feature of the two winter terms is the extensive programme of activities available each evening for the boarders. Pupils select from a wide range of clubs to suit every taste.
Weekend Activities: There is plenty on offer at weekends and pupils enjoy a varied programme of events. Mountain Biking, Walks in the Ashdown Forest, Ten-Pin Bowling, Theatre Visits and Outings and Lectures are popular. With 150 acres of grounds, the setting is ideal for Wide Games and Camp Fires - not forgetting ‘The Battle of Brambletye’ if one has to be prepared to get wet!
Holiday Activities: As well as the pre-term sports coaching courses, groups support various IAPS tournaments. In recent years, there has been a Choir tour, a French Trip and a Kenya Expedition.
