The weather station is to be found on the top of the cylindrical stairwell of The Blencowe Centre.
Our weather station is a Rainwise WS-2000 MkIII wireless station. It has a solar panel to supply it with electricity and it transmits the data live to a computer in the Geography Room. From here the data is sent out onto the web and to a display screen in the Geography Room.
The weather station collects temperature, humidity, air pressure, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction and wind chill. The data is stored on the weather computer and daily, weekly, monthly and annual means, maximums and minimums are calculated as well as trends.
The weather station collects information all day every day and the screen in the Geography Room is updated every second from the weather station. The data from the weather computer is exported to the web every 5 minutes.
We are also now linked to Weather Underground (see below).

The Brambletye Weather Station can be seen from the front school drive
Weather Underground is a global network of personal weather stations which provides local weather data and forecasting tools. Old Brambletyean Toby Skinner works in the US Headquarters of the company.
Brambletye weather data is uploaded regularly to the Weather Underground database. This website stores our data and enables it to be compared to other weather stations around the world using the Wundermap. This displays the weather data on an interactive Google Maps base.
This is our weather data
Weather Underground also enables Brambletye to have a local 6-day forecast. For us, this uses information from Gatwick Airport. The most up-to-date one is shown on the right.
