Brambletye Pupil wins a major National Art Prize

David Shepherd Global Canvas Prize Giving.

On Thursday 17th March six Brambletye artists travelled to London to represent the school in a one day Art exhibition held at The Flett Theatre in the Natural History Museum. The theme was ‘Tomorrow’s World’ and all six pupils received certificates from David Shepherd. The six pupils were highly commended for their work on canvas, and a wonderful ‘Tiger’ painting came third in the Under 13 age category. A vibrant ‘Bird’ painting won second prize in the Under 12 age group and first in the Under 13 age group and the Overall winner of the competition 2011 was a Year 8's beautiful depiction of ‘The Lion King’. The winner received art materials and will spend the day with David Shepherd working in his studio.There was a fascinating talk on conservation by guest speaker Louis Barnett, inventor of the chocolate bar ‘Chocolite’ a product which supports the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. To round off this inspirational day, a lecture was given by Rachel Murton, who is the project manager for the elephant Orphanage programme in Zambia.
